AtKisson has been a leader in the field of region-based sustainable development consulting since our founding (see History).

Below is a small sample of the regions, cities, towns, islands, and other communities that we have worked with.

New Orleans / Southeast Louisiana, USA
AtKisson designed, helped kick-off, and facilitated an extensive, multi-year effort called Top 10 by 2010, whose purpose was to use sustainable development and systems thinking principles to raise the region's profile and quality of life. In just three years -- and just prior to the Katrina disaster that caused a suspension of the program -- the Greater New Orleans region had risen over 75 positions on a Forbes Magazine list of best places to live and work in the United States. (2001-2005)

City of Randwick, Metropolitan Sydney, Australia
Randwick ,a major section of the Sydney urban conglomerate, has won national recognition for its sustainability programs. We have supported the development of integrated assessment, strategic planning, goal-setting for the City. (2006-2008)

Stockholm County Government
The County Government of Stockholm owns and manages the entire health and public transportation sector, among other things. AtKisson Europe was engaged to support the County in a comprehensive redevelopment of its annual reporting process, to reflect a more sustainable and whole-systems perspective. (2004, 2005)

Sustainable Pittsburgh
AtKisson helped design, facilitate, and launch this regional, multi-sectoral initiative, and periodically supported it with strategic planning, indicator development, and communications work over nearly ten years. Sustainable Pittsburgh has been looked to as a model for other similar initiatives in Japan, Australia, and even by US military bases. (1998-2007)
