AtKisson has supported a wide variety of governmental and inter-governmental sustainability initiatives, working at every level, from Prime Minister-mandated multi-country collaborations in Europe to ministerial programs in Asia, and from very large Australian states to small island-based municipalities in the US.

Baltic 21, Northern Europe
Through our European affiliate, AtKisson Europe, we have supported (on several different occasions) strategic planning, training, and communication for this multi-stakeholder initiative on regional sustainability for the eleven nations of northern Europe (including Russia, Norway, and Iceland). Operating under mandate from the eleven Prime Ministers, Baltic 21 is a primary vehicle for such cooperation in Northern Europe.

State of South Australia, Australia
For the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, we applied our Pyramid strategic planning methods to support inter-departmental planning for greenhouse gas reduction and sustainable development. The result was a number of innovative new programs, including the "Active Adelaide" program, which raised bicycle commuting rates from 2% to over 30% among government workers, in less than one year. The Government of Latvia
Working with the Ministry for Regional Development and Local Government, together with the inter-agency team responsible for the National Development Plan, we designed and facilitated an intensive 3-day workshop to develop goals and strategies for National Spatial Plan. The workshop used our Pyramid process to support a cross-disciplinary government and external expert group in the review of key trends, the analysis of systemic leverage points, and the identification of innovative policy directions that could address national issues and support the achievement of national development goals.

Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program, US Department of Defense; and the US Army
Over a two-year period, we led a project to develop a new sustainability metrics and management support system for US military bases. AtKisson has also been a key resource for the US Army (and recognized with awards) in supporting its Installation Sustainability Program.

Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs
With financing and leadership from Singapore, AtKisson Group has supported sustainability trainings for government officials in several SE Asian countries including Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Martha's Vineyard Commission
AtKisson supported a comprehensive planning initiative to develop sustainability indicators and apply them to community planning priorities on this small island south of Boston, USA. We did similar work for the nearby island of Nantucket.
